Both paths lead to full recognition as an MTR. Which one is right depends on your Defizitbescheid and your situation — we review it with you and advise you free of charge.
Kenntnisprüfung
The direct path with a state examination- You want to obtain recognition as quickly as possible — our preparation lasts 20 weeks.

Anpassungslehrgang
The hands-on path within your working day- You prefer to demonstrate your skills step by step in practice, rather than in an exam.
- You have an employer who supports you with practical mentors (Praxisanleiter) — or we find one with you.
- The Lehrgang ends with a final interview — not with a state examination.
- Theory classes with us — online and according to your Defizitbescheid.

What is the MTR Kenntnisprüfung (knowledge examination)?
The state knowledge examination is the direct path to full recognition as an MTR. You are examined in up to three areas of competence under MTBG and MTAPrV.
Performing an X-ray including preparation and follow-up.
Irradiation with a linear accelerator including irradiation plan and organs at risk.
Dosimetric measurement (inverse-square law) including evaluation.
Oral exam 45–60 min with two examiners · practical tests at your center · all parts must be "passed" (each may be repeated once).
What is the Anpassungslehrgang (adaptation course) for MTRs?
The Anpassungslehrgang is the practical route to full recognition as an MTR. In your everyday work you make up the differences identified in your Defizitbescheid — supported by us and with its own final exam instead of a state examination.
You acquire the missing skills in a hands-on way at a clinic or practice — with practical mentors on site.
Online classes with us, in the evening or on weekends — tailored to your Defizitbescheid.
The Lehrgang ends with a final exam in Munich or Hamburg — not with the state Kenntnisprüfung.

Our specialist language course (Fachsprachkurs) for MTRs prepares you specifically for the specialist language exam (Fachsprachenprüfung, FSP) for MTRs — conversations with patients, shift handovers to colleagues and the language of radiology, fully online and compatible with your work (berufsbegleitend). You notice it from day one: fewer misunderstandings, confident communication with patients and faster integration into the team. Afterward you move directly on to the Kenntnisprüfung preparation or the Anpassungslehrgang.

What you need for the KP preparation
For the Kenntnisprüfung preparation to work and for you to complete all the practical parts, you should meet the following requirements. We help with some of them — and they do not apply to the specialist language course.
MTR training or studies completed abroad — the basis for the recognition application.
Solid German (at least B2) for the specialist language, the simulations and the oral test. Not there yet? Our specialist language course for MTRs gets you there.
Living in Germany during the preparation — the practical tests take place in person at a center.
A center for the practical training and the practical tests — in radiology, nuclear medicine or radiotherapy, depending on your Defizitbescheid.
The decision from the competent authority defines which areas of competence are examined.
The preparation is full-time — online classes, self-study, mock exams and practical learning phases.
For the online classes you need
The classes are live via video — with a camera and microphone you take an active part in simulations and conversations.
Enrollment and free consultation
